"Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive.
1 Corinthians 10:23
Something that is permissible and beneficial :) May this break from writing be a pick me up for both me and you!

"Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold. A circle is round, it has no end, that's how long I want to be your friend. I've got a hand, and you've got another, put them together and we've got each other." - Traditional Girl Scout Song Throughout the journeys in this life, deep friends that stick by your side truly become the safety net and community that hold you up throughout the difficulties. My two best friends, Renae and Sami, are those two people in my life. Granted, we live in three different states (we all met and lived in NY when we were younger) and are unable to talk frequently due to the busyness of everyday life, but pieces always fall back together when we do spend time with one another. Starting tonight for one week, Renae and I will continue to reminisce and pioneer new adventures together again. When we lived in New York together, Renae and I would create new games, have deep discussions, and paint the town red in the most unique and conservative way you can think of :) She is also the one who, due to my own competitive nature, pushed me to read through the entire Bible- as she was doing. This brought me to REALLY read the Bible and start learning... I credit Renae with the start of my relationship with the Lord. Her Spirit of investigation and honesty has also confirmed to me that the Lord desires us to chew on His Word and understand it, so that His Truth may be what we live by and that His Pure Love may be what we reflect. Neither of these things are possible without quietness in the Lord's presence and hard discipline to sit still there daily... but THAT is the #1 Lesson learned over Christmas Break: "When I find myself racing around, trying to fill a day with mindless tasks or petty entertainment, this is usually the time that God whispers to my heart to draw away with Him and to silence my heart as He wishes to speak." - Katherine Walden With candles glowing and the memory of the four most recently deceased members of the Roinila-Sedlar tribe, my family enjoyed New Years in three different houses. As with all other children, we want to ring in the new year with our friends, instead of hanging out with our parents, who usually don't do anything very fun. Laura went to a friend from church's house, and then to another friend's to spend the night, while I went to Alan's house... funny that the older you get (or at least Alan and I) do not enjoy the funness of new years as much as the relaxation and reflection of the year's great adventures. I'm becoming more like my mom every year! My parents spent the evening in the sauna, walking, and watching the ball drop, reminiscing just as much. With the New Year comes the resolutions that are generally broken, so I hope that your resolutions this year are intentions instead- and that the Lord gives you inner spiritual energy to discipline yourselves and commit to the actions you intend :) - With love! |
