"Lead from the back — and let others believe they are in front."
The most recent episode I saw had a scene where
Gervase announced that it was he who had been in control
and playing the game most efficiently by being in the background.
No one saw that coming.
Our humanity demands to be the best, the first and the most important.
Clever leaders will step back - putting themselves last
in order to gain the most in the end.
But I am sure that the most effective and influential leaders
will step back not for their own gain, but for others to gain.
These leaders are humble servants, ready and willing
to use their power however they can
to love and serve others.
Jesus modeled this leadership best
and then encouraged us to do the same:
John 13:12-15
When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
