Day 5
While millions of men have bought and sold sex on these streets, it hasn't gone unnoticed by God's workers.
Alabaster Jar is a non-profit, fully fundraised organization that has set up a cafe on one of these busy streets and weekly goes out from 9:30-11pm to love these women as Christ loves them.
The prostitutes see these women as "Angels with Baskets", who always bear some type of tea/coffee, snack and gospel track/magazine. While many times tracks aren't handed out, the women have started to develop relationships and look forward to the weekly visit. Alabaster Jar believes prostitutes need to know how much they're loved, valued and empowered by the Lord and have a huge heart to bring God's love to them.
Tonight, I went out with these women and prayed - experiencing how powerful prayer really is and how while I enjoy simple college life, I have fallen into a pit of believing in prayer but not praying as if I believe God will do the things I ask in His name and for His glory.
While this and other human trafficking types are large, systematic issues, the Lord's hand is still at work. Swinger Clubs have been shut down, women have been rescued and His Lord has been received even in the darkest places to show His glory.
I challenge you today to do your part. The Lord does not need us to do His work, but chooses us to. And our part is to be obedient and pray faithfully.
Whatever that means for your day, I seriously, wholeheartedly, expecting-God-to-answer-in-big-ways pray that you start to see prayer as a serious attack to the Devil's plans.
And that the battles we fight are not of whose hair is better, what grade to get, what job to have - but whose heart is still lost.
Amen.
