God, You are good, so good. You are real, so real. You are what we need, as well as the only thing that can save us. We need You. Forgive us, Father, for we know not what we do. Forgive us, Father, for each moment we control our own fate, for every moment we move to our own rhythm and pleasure. Forgive us for our haste and for the pride that continually arrives to bring our names fame. Forgive us for the stereotypes we hold, and the routine we have felt we needed. Lord, give us wisdom; for asking forgiveness of such deep things others are unaware of is not easy.
Grow our community, Father, and move within us. Soften our hearts to Your Spirit and open our minds to Your way.
Two Sundays from today, our church will be located in McDoel Baptist Church at 5pm... and we know it's going to change a lot of things!
Along with this beautiful transformation and Palm Sunday, Jordan brought both together by looking at Mark 11, in which the author jumps to a quick story about a fig tree in order to make an impact.
Just like when a fig tree does not show early signs of fruit to show that it will bear fruit, those who are in the church sometimes end up proclaiming to bear fruit, but when you get real close, there is none.
As a church, we were challenged this morning to truly purify our hearts and prepare for the differences that are to come in the new space.
To end, we were told to pray, ask forgiveness of those in the room we needed to, and lean into what Jesus commands in Mark 11: to have faith, believe anything is possible with the Lord, and forgive.
