"Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold. A circle is round, it has no end, that's how long I want to be your friend. I've got a hand, and you've got another, put them together and we've got each other." - Traditional Girl Scout Song
My two best friends, Renae and Sami, are those two people in my life. Granted, we live in three different states (we all met and lived in NY when we were younger) and are unable to talk frequently due to the busyness of everyday life, but pieces always fall back together when we do spend time with one another.
Starting tonight for one week, Renae and I will continue to reminisce and pioneer new adventures together again. When we lived in New York together, Renae and I would create new games, have deep discussions, and paint the town red in the most unique and conservative way you can think of :) She is also the one who, due to my own competitive nature, pushed me to read through the entire Bible- as she was doing. This brought me to REALLY read the Bible and start learning... I credit Renae with the start of my relationship with the Lord.
Her Spirit of investigation and honesty has also confirmed to me that the Lord desires us to chew on His Word and understand it, so that His Truth may be what we live by and that His Pure Love may be what we reflect. Neither of these things are possible without quietness in the Lord's presence and hard discipline to sit still there daily... but THAT is the #1 Lesson learned over Christmas Break:
"When I find myself racing around, trying to fill a day with mindless tasks or petty entertainment, this is usually the time that God whispers to my heart to draw away with Him and to silence my heart as He wishes to speak." - Katherine Walden
